Effective date: 1st July 2026
This policy describes what information PurpleVerse (“we,” “our”) collects through the PurpleVerse website (purpleverse.itscodepurple.com) and the PurpleVerse browser extension, and how it’s used.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Username, email address, and password. Your password is never stored in plain text — it’s hashed before being saved.
When you use the PurpleVerse browser extension
- Track metadata: the title, artist, and album of music you play on supported websites (e.g. Spotify Web Player), so we can build your listening history.
- The web address (URL) of the page you’re listening on, and the time each track was played, so scrobbles can be timestamped and attributed to the correct source.
- This data is only collected on websites the extension has been built to detect music from, and only while you have the extension enabled.
Automatically
- Basic technical information needed to operate the service (e.g. request timestamps, error logs), used only for debugging and keeping the service running.
How we use this information
- To create and maintain your PurpleVerse profile and listening history
- To authenticate you (via a login token) when the extension submits scrobbles on your behalf
- To display your scrobble history, total play count, and (in future) other statistics on your public profile page
Sharing with third parties
The PurpleVerse browser extension is built on the open-source Web Scrobbler project, which supports sending your listening data to scrobbling services you personally choose to connect for example Last.fm, Libre.fm, ListenBrainz, Maloja, Pleroma, or a custom webhook. We only receive and store data sent to PurpleVerse’s own connection; if you additionally connect other services yourself, your data is also sent directly to those services under their own respective privacy policies, which we don’t control.
We do not sell your data to advertisers or other third parties.
Where your data is stored
Your account and scrobble data is stored in a database we operate. We take reasonable measures to protect it, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
- You can stop using the extension at any time, which stops any further data collection.
- To request a copy of your data or have your account and data deleted, contact us at officiallycodepurple@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Children’s privacy
PurpleVerse is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as PurpleVerse changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
